Communicative Disorders Assistant - Communicative Disorders Assistants, abbreviated CDAs, are supervised by, but work in conjunction with, speech-language pathologists and audiologists. While CDAs cannot perform assessments or set therapy goals, they are a vital part of the therapy team - they perform hearing and speech-language screenings, prepare therapy materials, implement therapy, report on therapy outcomes, perform routine maintenance on clinical equipment and work with SLPs and audiologists to adjust therapy goals.
Melodic intonation therapy - Melodic Intonation Therapy (MIT) is a therapeutic process used by music therapists and speech pathologists to help patients with communication disorders caused by brain damage. This method uses a style of singing called melodic intonation to stimulate activity in the right hemisphere of the brain in order to assist in speech production (Carroll 1996).
Homophobic hate speech - Homophobic hate speech is a controversial way of referring to speech which is taken to be offensive to gay men and lesbians and many other unbiased citizens. Some might think of laws against such public speech as protecting homosexuals from abuse and unwarranted hostility, whereas others often think of such laws and regulations against "thoughtcrime", and otherwise restricting/interfering with free speech.
Speech encoding - Speech coding is the compression of speech (into a code) for transmission with speech codecs that use audio signal processing and speech processing techniques.
